Nigeria’s music industry has seen a shift in boundaries in 2010 as new talent is introduced into the music world through songs and albums that have become leaders over the past decade. See the list of released albums.
In 2011, the Nigeria music industry saw a new dimension in the sound pop environment. Wizkid launched “Holla At Ya Boy” to achieve a unique and fresh style.
Less than a year later, Wizkid became an active artist with his debut album “Superstar“. It remains the best Wizkids album to this day.
It featured producers such as Samklef, Jay Sleek, Knighthouse, E Kelly and Guests Artistes like Wande Coal, D’Prince And Label Mates, Skales & Banky W.
Until 2011 M.I. Abaga, Jesse Yags and the Ice Prince are forces to consider in the music industry.
In the same year, Ice Prince released their debut album Everybody Loves Ice Prince.
Off the albums, singles like “Oleku, Juju, Superstar, Magician” dominated the airwaves.
Ahamefuna was released in January 2011 and is considered the best Duncan Mighty album to date. This helped him find fans among the silent inhabitants of Lagos. This album includes classic songs such as “Port-Harcourt Son” and “Obianuju“.
As of 2011, Samklef is one of the most popular music producers in the industry. Most of the songs he produced at the time were instant hits.
In June of this year, he released his debut album, Nonilizing. One of the loudest songs on the album is “Molowo Noni” by Wizkid and D Prince.
The album also featured vocals from Olamide, Ice Prince and Skales.
Released in July of 2011, bez breezed his way into ladies hearts with his romantic slow blues songs. The 15-track album produced hits like “That Stupid Song”, “Stop Pretending”, “Zuciya Daya”, “Super Sun.”
The album features production by Cobhams Asuquo and vocals from the likes of eLDee, Eva, Ice Prince & Praise
The Boston Globe placed it at number 3 on its list of World music’s top albums of 2011.
Olamide entry into the industry came when the industry was defeated by Dagrin. Ola Mead’s debut single “Eni Duro” attracted attention not only with lyrics, but also with a video of dressing up to episode 15.
He then followed up with the Wizkid-assisted song, ‘Omo To Shan” which was also a smash hit.
Rapsodi, backed by great performance, clever rhymes and local proverbs in the original language, as well as the work of legendary music producer ID Cabasa, became the most surpassed album of 2011.
The album features guest stars such as Wizkid, 9ice, Terry tha Rapman,as well as partners from labels such as 2phat, Adol and remisce.
